The 14.1-megapixel DMC-TZ18 features
a 24mm ultra wide-angle 16x optical zoom LEICA DC lens(35mm camera
equivalent: 24-384mm), including Nano Surface Coating technology
which dramatically reduces ghost and flare. The 16x optical zoom can
be used both in photo and movie recording. The 24mm wide-angle lens
captures approx. 213% larger viewing space compared to a normal 35mm
lens. With the Intelligent Resolution technology, 3 areas –
outlines, detailed texture areas and soft gradation areas – are
automatically detected. Apart from the uniform enhancement of
sharpness, this technology precisely performs signal processing
pixel by pixel in the most effective way according to the area. As a
result, images are clear and crisp. The Intelligent Zoom extends
zoom ratio by approx. 1.3x maintaining the image quality even
combining a digital zoom. 16x optical can virtually extend to 20x
equivalent. The POWER O.I.S. nearly doubles the hand-shake
correction power of conventional MEGA O.I.S. So you can take sharp,
clear zoom shots without blurring. Activating POWER O.I.S.,
Intelligent ISO Control, Face Detection AF/AE with Face Recognition,
Intelligent Scene Selector with Sunset Mode, Intelligent Exposure
and AF Tracking, the camera does all the work in the iA Mode. And
the Happy Mode optimizes color saturation and brightness for vividly
memorable scenes. The DMC-TZ18 can record movies in
high-definition(1,280x720 pixels at 30 fps in Motion JPEG format).
The powerful 16x optical zoom is available in movie recording. The
DMC-TZ18 can also upload movies onto YouTube, and photos onto
Facebook. All you have to do is checkmark images you want to share
and insert SD/SDHC/SDXC Memory Card into a computer. Uploading
automatically starts just by following the guidance. With operation
this easy, you can instantly share your photos and movies with your
family and friends all over the world. The DMC-TZ18 features large
3.0-inch Intelligent LCD. It automatically adjusts the screen
brightness as the surrounding brightness level changes. The big
screen reflects fine details, making it easy to check the focus
before shooting. It also serves as a small photo and video viewer,
allowing you and friends to enjoy viewing images together. The
DMC-TZ18 provides easy-to-use manual controls. The Aperture-priority
creates a soft-focused background effect and the Shutter-priority
produces a dynamic rendering of streaming water.

POWER O.I.S. image stabilization
The new Panasonic Lumix TZ18 features iA Mode, a suite of
technologies that engage automatically, has evolved for more
powerful image stabilization while video recording and taking still
photos with Active Mode which boosts POWER OIS to excel in
suppressing blur when recording videos at wide angle while walking.
New iA features include the Intelligent Handheld NightShot, which
creates a beautiful night scenery with illumination by layering the
images shot consecutively. Furthermore, the Intelligent Burst
Shooting automatically sets the frame rate of burst shooting
according to the subject’s movement - whether it moves fast or slow
- utilizing the mechanism of Intelligent ISO Control.
