What’s more, the ergonomic layout of the controls and a full complement of intelligent Olympus technologies mean it’s easier than ever to capture and enjoy excellent photos and HD movies worry-free. Dual Image Stabilisation counteracts camera shake to virtually eliminate blur while AF Tracking and the three-inch colour LCD make it simple to frame and capture good shots - and fun to review them afterwards. AF Tracking even keeps subjects in focus who move in and out of the frame. 7 Magic Filters
The Olympus VR-310 comes with seven of the fun Magic Filters featured on Olympus’ high-end cameras, so users can add striking special effects to their photos directly on-camera - without splashing out on a model with a lot of features they’d probably never use. Magic Filter options range from Soft Focus and Fish Eye to Pop Art, Punk and the new Sparkle filter that adds twinkling reflections to shiny objects. Face Detection
Face Detection technology searches for faces in a composition and recognizes them as the main subject. It then automatically puts them in focus and optimally adjusts exposure to create an image that’s sharp in the right places and ideally exposed. Face Detection Technology on the Olympus VR-310 can detect up to 12 faces. AF Tracking tracks a moving subject automatically and keeps it continually in focus - for optimally focused and exposed pictures. The Olympus VR-310 even memorizes the subject when it goes out of frame and resumes tracking when it reappears.

Record HD movies
Providing two-fold protection, Dual Image Stabilisation helps to avoid image blur caused by camera shake or fast-moving subjects. It combines high ISO values with a CCD-based mechanical image stabilizer, where a built-in gyro sensor detects camera movement and adjusts the CCD accordingly. High Definition video (HD video) delivers a high-quality movie experience when played back on an HD TV. In HD Movie Mode, the Olympus camera captures HD video using the advanced AVI Motion JPEG movie compression format at a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels and a rate of 30 frames per second.

Image Software
The “intelligent-Auto” mode uses advanced automatic detection technology that enables the Olympus VR-310 to automatically recognize up to six of the most commonly shot scenes. This makes it possible to capture perfect photos without the need for manual settings. Olympus now offers [ib], an integrated photo browsing and organizing software. Images can be organized by person with a new face recognition technology, by place with a GPS-based mapping function or by event.

Shadow Adjustment Technology
Scene Mode offers a choice of different scenes to suit the subject being captured, for example, landscape, night, beach and snow or pet. The Olympus VR-310 camera automatically adjusts a host of parameters to achieve the best possible result for the chosen scene. Shadow Adjustment Technology (SAT) is designed to improve exposure for pictures with dark areas. Using a sensor that works much like the human eye, dark parts of a composition (e.g., a shadow under a tree) are identified and the camera then adjusts the exposure settings accordingly for those areas. The result is a more realistic and detailed picture.
